[origin: EP2474701A1] Enabling smooth rotation of an operation cord and providing an operation cord equipped with a failsafe function and an elevation apparatus using the same are aimed. An operation cord 9 comprises a cord 14 whose both ends are configured to be coupled with each other by means of a coupling portion 20 so that the operation cord 9 has an endless shape, and the coupling portion 20 is so formed that an outer diameter thereof in a lateral direction is equal to or smaller than a maximum diameter of the cord.
