A press according to the invention is mainly characterized in that the pre-positioning device involves at least one pre-centering pin (5) that is rigidly connected to the tool (3) and at least one groove (12) that is rigidly connected to the plate (2), said pin (5) being inserted into said groove (12) so as to enable guiding from a pre-positioning of the tool (3) on the plate (2), and in that the groove (12) has a locking means (15, 23) that makes it possible to rigidly hold the pin (5) in a predetermined position.
