[origin: WO2011032530A1] The invention relates to a disposable device, in which the target substances are bonded to rigid carriers, preferably microparticles. A mechanism according to the invention enables the rigid carriers to be easily concentrated in a volume of advantageous size. By means of a further device according to the invention, the rigid carriers can be subjected to known isolation, amplification, and/or detection reactions in the device. The device is especially suitable for concentrating, isolating, and/or detecting materials in or from biological liquids. The device according to the invention for obtaining, storing, and processing substances from liquids comprises a cylinder for accommodating the liquids, rigid carriers, closures at both ends of the cylinder, which closures can be penetrated by a hollow needle, wherein at least one of the closures is designed as a piston disk or can be perforated, separating membranes, hollow needles for introducing and removing liquids, and possibly a plunger for actively filling the cylinder.
