[origin: WO2011032582A1] The invention relates to a device that is preferably used to rescue persons from elevator systems in emergencies. The weight ratio between the car (1) and the counterweight (2, 3) can be changed. Either the counterweight is divisible so that when a weight part (3) is decoupled, the remaining weight (2) on the support means enables a downward motion in all loading states of the car, or an additional weight in the form of an auxiliary weight is brought into the elevator system. Said auxiliary weight takes effect when necessary and initiates the desired motion.
