Abstract (en)

[origin: DE102009041557A1] The vehicle (10) has a lighting device for lighting the vehicle environment i.e. dead angle area, and detecting devices (1-6) i.e. sensor, for detecting objects e.g. cyclist, in the vehicle environment. The lighting device is automatically switched on, if the objects in the vehicle environment are detected by the detecting devices. The lighting device is arranged on a front seat passenger side of the vehicle. An assistance device receives sensor signals (1'-6') of the detecting devices and an additional vehicle signal and controls the lighting device based on the received signals. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a vehicle.
