Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2478974A1] The device (10) has a roll stand (11) for accommodating two working rolls (32, 33) that define a roll gap. One winch device (12) accommodates a coil (29) and supplies a magnesium strip to the roll gap, and another winch device (13) winds up the strip after traversing the roll gap. One of the winch devices and/or the roll stand are provided with heating devices (27, 37) and cover devices (21, 22). One cover device includes a coil opening (23) at a housing side turned away from the roll stand for inserting the coil into the cover device. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a thin magnesium strip.
