A method for washing delicate textile articles using a washing machine comprising a washing compartment (2) in which a rotary drum (3) is positioned, comprising the steps of: putting the articles to be washed (4) in the rotary drum (3); making the drum (3) rotate; introducing into the drum (3) a quantity of washing liquid (5) such that the articles to be washed (4) are lifted by means of an Archimedes thrust which allows the articles to detach from the drum (3) and float inside the drum (3).
