[origin: WO2011036344A1] The invention relates to a method for drying sludges (2b), which includes pretreating and mixing raw materials (1), forming and heating sludge aggregates (2), drying the formed sludge aggregates and recovering energy (3), post-treating (4), sorting product particles (5) and intermediate storing of end product (6). According to the method conveying the pre-treated sludge (2b) to a process device (2a) in which the sludge is formed into sludge aggregates of suitable size, and increasing the temperature of the process device (2a), whereby energy absorbed in the process device transfers to sludge aggregates being formed, and conveying the formed sludge aggregates (3b) to a dryer (3 a) in which they encounter a drying air flow (3h) the temperature of which is significantly lower than the temperature of the sludge aggregates being dried.
