The device (10, 50, 60, 200) further has a strongbox (12, 202) which accommodates at least one cash box (14a, 14b, 100, 204a, 204b). Said cash box (14a, 14b, 100, 204a, 204b) comprises an authentication data memory (18a, 18b, 106, 208a, 208b) in which authentication data for the unique authentication of the cash box (14a, 14b, 100, 204a, 204b) by the service unit (22) are stored. The radio unit (20) transmits the authentication data and inventory data containing information on the current stock of value notes of the cash box (14a, 14b, 100, 204a, 204b) to the service unit (22) via mobile radiotelephone service (24).
