[origin: EP2481606A1] The device (2) has a gripping sleeve (10) movable in a normal position and a working position (14). The sleeve envelops an application element (8) i.e. brush, in the normal position. The sleeve is fixed at a pipe like shaft (4) in an axial direction by a detachable detent connection in the working and normal positions. A rear end (16) of the shaft includes a detent projection projecting from a surface of the shaft. The detent projection in the working position and another detent projection in the normal position are engaged by a detent element of the sleeve.
