Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2011039083A1] The invention relates to a continuous casting die for continuously casting a metal strand, having wide side walls (1) and narrow side walls (2) displaceably disposed between the wide side walls (1), wherein the wide side walls (1) and narrow side walls (2) together form a molding cavity (3) extending from a die inlet edge (4) to a die outlet edge (5) for receiving metal melt and forming the metal strand, and each narrow side wall (2) is divided into three narrow side wall regions (6) extending from the die inlet edge (4) to the die outlet edge (5), wherein continuous heat dissipation and targeted edge rotation of the strand shell is to be achieved in the transition regions. Said aim is achieved in that the molding cavity comprises a convex contour line (11) in the middle region (6a) of each narrow side wall (2) at the die inlet edge (4), leading back to the die outlet edge (5) in a continuous transition to a straight contour line (12), or to a convex contour line (15) having a lesser curvature than at the die inlet edge (5).
