Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2484462A2] The hot upsetting method involves forming a contour of a work piece with a forging tool to a forging preform contour. The work piece is introduced into a cavity (8) of the forming tool. The work piece is compressed in a forming tool (2) to a forging preform with varying cross-sections and is provided as forged preform with a defined volume pre-distribution for a subsequent forging process. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a forming tool with a cavity for generating a forging preform with varying cross-sections for producing a forging; and (2) a forming device or warm compression device for generating a forging preform for forging a forging with a forming tool.
