[origin: WO2011042151A1] The invention relates to a motor-driven articulation for a robot arm comprising a first segment (1), a second segment (2) movably mounted on the first segment, and a drive device mounted between the segments and connected to a control unit, wherein the drive device includes an actuator (5) arranged for reversibly transmitting a movement to the second segment relative to the first segment, and locking means (6, 7, 8, 9; 31) provided between the first segment and the second segment, which are controllable so as to render the transmission of movement temporarily irreversible, characterized in that the drive device includes an actuation element mechanically connected to a portion of the locking means and mounted on one of the segments so as to move by means of a driving force exceeding a predetermined threshold in order to actuate the locking means.
