[origin: EP2487268A1] Furnace (10) comprises an interior and a furnace roof (2), where a device (1) is installed vertically in the furnace roof such that one part of the device projects into the furnace opposite from the z-direction, and the other part projects out of the furnace, and the device has a connection piece on the part projecting out of furnace through which a nitrogen-oxygen mixture is fed and a connection piece through which coal granules (4) are fed, and a gas-permeable floor (3) is provided at the bottom of the part of device which projects into the furnace and is opposite from the z-direction. An independent claim is also included for heating the sheet steel parts to the austenitic temperature of 850-950[deg] C, comprising generating a hydrogen-free reducing atmosphere in the furnace in which the sheet steel parts are heated and coal granules are continuously conveyed into the device which at least partially exhibit a sieve floor and projects partially into the furnace, and feeding a nitrogen-oxygen mixture from above onto the coal granules present in the device such that the coal granules burn under the effect of the heat in the furnace interior, forming carbon monoxide which flows into the interior of the furnace through the gas-permeable floor.
