[origin: EP2489597A1] The apparatus has a strapping device for strapping an article i.e. container (10), with a strip-like strapping band located and/or stretched horizontally and/or vertically and/or cross to an outer side of the article. A generation device generates defined tension force of the strapping band. An optical measuring device (42) detects mechanical characteristics of the article. The measuring device is coupled and/or effectively connected with the generation device. A fixing device fixes ends of the strapping band. The measuring device is connected upstream to the strapping device. The mechanical characteristics are strength- and/or fill level- and/or inner pressure related article parameters. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a package (2) a method for regulating- and/or controlling tension force of a strapping device.
