[origin: EP2489823A1] The device (1) has a drilling device (4) attached at a working head (24). A splitting device (5) i.e. hydraulically driven splitting cylinder (51), is attached to the working head, and generates gap force that acts at right angle to a bore axis and parallel to an axis (26) in a drilled hole in a working position. The working head is rotated at another axis (27) in relation to a carriage (2) such that either the drilling device or the splitting device is alternately brought into the working position by rotating the head at the latter axis and moving the head along the former axis. The drilling device is a drill machine, a percussion drill or a core drill. An independent claim is also included for a method for splitting a fixed material.
