[origin: WO2011051440A1] The invention provides a method for flushing an activated carbon filter (6) of a tank ventilation system of an internal combustion engine (1). The tank ventilation system comprises a fuel tank (2) and an activated carbon filter (6) which is assigned a tank shut-off valve TAV (12), a tank ventilation valve TEV (9) and an activated carbon filter shut-off valve AAV (10). To flush the activated carbon filter (6), the tank shut-off valve TAV (12) is closed, the tank ventilation valve TEV (9) is opened and the activated carbon filter shut-off valve AAV (10) is closed. The activated carbon filter shut-off valve AAV (10) is subsequently actuated so as to close preferably in a clocked manner.
