Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2011050907A1] The invention relates to a protective device (1) for a mobile or stationary vehicle or object against projectiles, ammunition, and other bullets, in particular against multi-slug projectiles, comprising a housing (2), in which one or more plates (5) are mounted, preferably loosely arranged in a frame (7), so that, when the projectile strikes the plate (5), said plate can be detached from the frame (7). When the first fragment strikes a protective plate (5) of the protective device (1), said protective plate is torn from the support thereof and becomes deformed. This withdraws speed from the fragment by accelerating the plate (5). Puncture of the plate (5) is prevented by the elastic support of the frame (7). Thus, the next fragment strikes the first one, and a collision of the two fragments occurs. Step by step, energy is thus withdrawn from the individual fragments.
