Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2011057811A2] The invention relates to the cost-effective production of an optical assembly (20) which is in particular designed as a branching component and comprises a so-called splitter (4) as a passive optical component, wherein: in a first step, on a common wafer (2), a plurality of splitters (4) is generated by forming a corresponding conductor pattern (6), in a second step, optical fibers (18) are simultaneously coupled to the connection ends (8A, 8B) of the individual splitters (4) by means of a connection carrier (16), and finally in a third step, the individual splitters (4) are separated from one another by means of the connection carriers (16) connected thereto. According to the invention, only one common coupling process is required for a plurality of splitters (4). The splitters (4) preferably form a splitter cascade (24).
