[origin: EP2503010A1] The invention relates to a method of processing animal pelts by tumbling said pelts by means of an apparatus (1) comprising a drum (2), by using a treatment cycle comprising: tumbling said one or more pelts in a treatment compartment (10, 30, 50) of said drum (2) together with an absorbing granular material, automatically loading said pelts and said granular material from said treatment compartment into a separation compartment (20, 40, 60) of said drum, and tumbling said one or more pelts in said separation compartment (20, 40) so as to separate said granular material from said pelts in said separation compartment (10, 30, 60), said method comprising the steps of: loading one or more pelts into a treatment compartment (10, 30, 50) of said drum (2), performing a first processing of said pelts in said drum (2) by means of said treatment cycle, automatically loading said pelts from said separation compartment (20, 40, 60) into a treatment compartment (10, 30, 50) of said drum (2), performing a second processing of said pelts in said drum (2) by means of said treatment cycle, and unloading said one or more pelts from said drum (2), The invention furthermore relates to an apparatus for processing of animal pelts.
