[origin: EP2503799A1] The method involves providing a database of pairs of outer ear transfer functions for multiple source positions, where each pair of outer ear transfer function is determined for one of the source positions by a measurement. Each pair of outer ear transfer function is interpreted as a respective virtual loudspeaker (6) which is arranged at the source position. An independent claim is also included for a system for executing a method for calculating synthetic outer ear transfer functions.
