According to the invention, such a danger situation is detected when it is found, by evaluating the sensor signals, that the vehicle has left the lane, wherein a direction angle is determined, at which the vehicle has left the lane, and wherein the at least one reversible restraint device (16) is activated and/or actuated depending on the determined direction angle.
