[origin: WO2011067040A1] The invention relates to a method for transferring freight from a car of a first train to a car of a second train. According to the invention, the two train cars, traveling next to each other on neighboring rail pairs, are first coupled to one another. The freight is then transferred. After transferring the freight, the cars are decoupled. A control unit (SE) monitors whether the transferring of freight and decoupling of cars is successfully completed. In the case of unsuccessful transfer or unsuccessful decoupling of the cars, the control unit initiates an emergency operating mode.
