[origin: EP2508355A1] The method involves identifying marks of book blocks (12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,30) and book covers and removing the book block depending on a machine controller (4) of a book production line (2) before the evaluation of the identification. The book production line is fed to a stack of book covers and multiple book blocks. The marks identify the book cover of the supplied stack and are forwarded to the machine controller. An independent claim is included for a device for removing or feeding a book block from or in a conveyor line of a book production line for the production of books, particularly for the production of short runs of books.
