[origin: WO2011069617A1] The invention relates to a method and to a device for combusting a carbonaceous feedstock (1) using commercial grade oxygen as the oxidising agent (2, 8, 12, 16). The combustion is carried out in at least two consecutive steps (B1, B2, B3, B4), wherein in one combustion step generated product gas (4, 9, 13) is cooled and in the following combustion step said gas is used as fuel (7, 11, 15).
