[origin: CA2783137A1] The invention relates to a line replaceable unit (LRU) (2) for an aircraft (1). According to the invention, the line replaceable unit comprises: a) a first main memory (7), which contains the software needed for certification of the LRU (2), and b) a second main memory (8) separate from the first main memory (7), in which a user of the LRU is able to store individual software that does not impair the certification basis of the LRU. The invention further relates to an assembly made of an LRU according to the invention and a database (12) having corresponding individual software, and to a suitable method for operating an LRU.
