The present invention concerns a piece of furniture and/or a similar furnishing element that comprises: a structure (2) that at least partially defines a space (3); a frame (4) that has a first and a second crossmember (5, 6), the frame (4) being engaged to the structure (2) at the space (3); a closing fabric (11) engaged to the frame (4), the closing fabric (11) being mobile between a closed condition, in which it closes, in particular completely, the space (3), and an open condition in which the space (3) is, at least partially, open; tensioning means (19) operatively engaged to the closing fabric (11) to place the latter under tension when it is in the closed condition so that the closing fabric (11) extends substantially on the same plane without discontinuity, the tensioning means (19) determining the complete covering of the space (3) when the closing fabric (11) is in closed condition.
