Binding apparatus designed for sheet edge binding using a metal slide having a curved edge, comprising a body with two crimping members mounted oppositely so that either both crimping member are moveable or one crimping member is immoveable, with the other being designed for reciprocating movement. Crimping members (4, 5, 4',5',4", 5") are equipped with slide plates which constitute their working surfaces, with each plate being equipped with groove (6, 7) or undercut (10,11,13,14) designed to accomodate the edge of the slide (2) for the purposes of performing a binding process in a single-stage cycle
