[origin: EP2511216A2] A winder unit 10 includes a cradle 23, a contact roller 29, an upper-yarn suction opening 35, a drive mechanism 60, and a unit controller 50. The cradle 23 holds a package 30, and the contact roller 29 comes into contact with a surface of the package 30. The upper-yarn suction opening 35 performs a sucking and catching operation to catch a yarn end 30a trailing from the package 30. The drive mechanism 60 moves the cradle 23 such that the package 30 is held at a non-contact position Q1 where the package 30 is separated from the contact roller 29 and at a contact position Q2 where the package 30 comes into contact with the contact roller 29. The unit controller 50 controls the drive mechanism 60 and the upper-yarn suction opening 35 such that the upper-yarn suction opening 35 performs the sucking and catching operation when the package 30 is held at each of the non-contact position Q1 and the contact position Q2.
