[origin: WO2011073030A1] The invention relates to an elevator system (1) comprising an elevator car support (2) displaceable in a travel area (3) provided for the travel of the elevator car support (2), and a first elevator car (11) and a second elevator car (12), each adjustably disposed on the elevator car support (2). A drive unit (18) is further disposed on the elevator car support (2). A belt (19) is also provided. The first elevator car (11) and the second elevator car (12) are thereby adjustable in opposite directions by the drive unit (18) by means of the belt (19) relative to the elevator car support (2).
