[origin: WO2012037915A1] The invention relates to a method for drawing metal sheets by means of a drawing apparatus that comprises a tool upper part, a tool lower part, preferably a male and a female die, and a metal sheet holder, wherein the metal sheet to be drawn is held by clamping in the edge area by the metal sheet holders and wherein a minimum level of cold hardening is produced through plastic elongation in order to confer the required strength/stiffness to the component that is to be drawn. The method is characterized in that the metal sheet holders can pivot to the outside during the working stroke of the tool, i.e. away from the actual drawing tool, and can thereby stretch the metal sheet and clamp the same over one of the tool parts, preferably the male die. A corresponding device is also claimed.
