[origin: WO2011076361A1] The invention relates to a security element for security papers, value documents or the like, comprising a substrate (2), which is at least partially transparent or translucent, a first printed image applied to the substrate (2), a second printed image applied to the substrate (2) and arranged beneath the first printed image at a predetermined distance therefrom, wherein the first printed image and the second printed image are each formed by means of line grids (5, 6), wherein at least one of the two line grids (5, 6) is modified on one side, the two line grids (5, 6) are aligned parallel with each other and the printed images and the line grids (5, 6) thereof are matched to each other in such a way that, when viewed in transmitted light, the line grids (5, 6) complement each other differently in dependence on the viewing angle.
