[origin: WO2011076462A1] The invention relates to a brake device for motor vehicles, having a main brake cylinder (2) for generating brake pressure on at least one wheel brake (15a-15d). In order to be able to individually change the brake pressure on individual wheel brakes (15a-15d), a pressure modulation cylinder (7) is provided between the main brake cylinder (2) and the wheel brakes (15a-15d), said cylinder having a plurality of chambers (17, 18), wherein a first chamber (17) is connected via a first fluid line (19) to the main brake cylinder (2), and a second chamber (17) is connected via a second fluid line (20) to the at least one wheel brake (15a-15d). The first and second chambers (17), (18) are connected to each other via a fluid line, in which a valve (12) is arranged. Such a brake system has a particularly simple design and can thus be produced in a cost-effective manner.
