[origin: WO2011083207A1] The present invention provides a novel cell tray (1) for transporting a plurality of containers (10) in a diagonal loading pattern and a method for handling containers. The cell tray (1) according to the invention comprises a number of bottle positions (54) arranged to accommodate a different number of containers (10) on the tray. The number of bottle positions (54) is at least twice as large as the number of containers (10) in the loading pattern. The bottle positions (54) are also arranged in a matrix- like pattern, whereby a diagonal pattern can be loaded onto the tray without a specific orientation thereof.
