[origin: GB2476832A] A damper assembly 10 comprises a housing 11 which is mountable onto a piece of furniture such as a cupboard by means of an attachment device 13. A buffer 12 is mounted in the housing to provide a damped resistive force to a door of the cupboard on closing. The extent of the protrusion of the buffer out of the housing determines the magnitude of the resistive force applicable to the door and has a limiting formation which is adjustable by means of a rotatable collar (21 Fig 4). The limiting formation may be in the form of a camming surface (18 Fig 2b) and follower in the form of a lug (20 Fig 3). The buffer 12 may be a piston and cylinder dampening device with preferable spring biasing means. The damper assembly may also be mounted directly to the hinge assembly (Fig 12).
