The cylinder has cylinder modules (11, 13) coupled with one another by connection screws (43), and intermediate modules (23, 23') arranged between the cylinder modules for length adjustment of the cylinder. The cylinder and intermediate modules comprise respective hollow-cylindrical core retaining sections (15, 25) and flange sections (17, 27). A slot (29) is flexibly formed in the intermediate modules such that the slot is temporarily expandable for attaching the intermediate modules on the screws in a radial direction along the slot with respect to a longitudinal axis (L) of the cylinder. The intermediate modules are made from plastic or metal i.e. spring steel sheet.

Ein modularer Schließzylinder, insbesondere elektronischer Schließzylinder, umfasst wenigstens zwei Zylindermodule, die über wenigstens ein axiales Verbindungselement miteinander koppelbar sind, und wenigstens ein Zwischenmodul, das für eine Längenanpassung des Schließzylinders axial zwischen den Zylindermodulen angeordnet ist, wobei die Zylindermodule und das Zwischenmodul einen hohlzylindrischen Kernaufnahmeabschnitt und einen sich hieran anschließenden Flanschabschnitt umfassen. Das Zwischenmodul weist einen Schlitz auf und ist derart flexibel, dass der Schlitz temporär aufweitbar ist, um das Zwischenmodul bezogen auf die Längsachse des Schließzylinders in radialer Richtung entlang des aufgeweiteten Schlitzes auf das axiale Verbindungselement aufsetzen zu können.
