The invention likewise relates to a circuit arrangement for operation of a high-pressure discharge lamp below its nominal power, wherein the high-pressure discharge lamp is operated at the nominal power with an alternating current at a predetermined operating frequency, and the circuit arrangement carries out the method described above.
