Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2011092189A1] The invention relates to a method for triggering pyrotechnic fire extinguishing devices (1), using an igniting mechanism that ignites a pyrotechnic composition (12) in the fire extinguishing device (1) when triggered. The aim of the invention is to provide a triggering system which is independent of external energy, which is controlled by pressurized gas, and which enables a quick detection of fires that are not located in the direct vicinity of the pyrotechnic triggering device. To achieve this, the igniting mechanism is triggered hydraulically or pneumatically, the fire extinguishing devices (1) are connected to a triggering line (2) which contains a pressurized medium and which opens by thermal loading in case of fire, and the igniting mechanism is triggered in the event of a sudden pressure loss in the triggering line (2).
