[origin: EP2535589A2] The centrifugal pump is provided with a pump impeller (2) disposed in a housing (1), where a cutting unit (7) having a cutting surface (8) and a rotating cutting body (9) is arranged prior to the inflow of the medium in an impeller wheel (3). The cutting surface and the cutting body are clamped each other with a force (F) axially in the direction of the rotational axis of the cutting body. The force is generated due to the rotation of the pump impeller.
