The device has a socket housing (3) i.e. dual RJ45socket housing, provided with electric contacts (7) that are led out from the housing to a printed circuit board assembly. The housing is partially enclosed by a shield. An integrated switching circuit of a chip (6) is arranged within the housing and provided with Ethernetports and an application-specific interface (12). The ports are connected with sockets (1, 2) of the housing. The interface is connected with the electric contacts.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Einrichtung zur Ankopplung eines Kommunikationsgerätes an ein ethernetbasiertes Datennetzwerk. Eine erfindungsgemäße Ankopplungseinrichtung umfasst ein Steckbuchsengehäuse (3) mit einer Anzahl von elektrischen Kontakten (7). Die Kontakte sind aus dem Steckbuchsengehäuse (3) herausgeführt und zur Leiterplattenmontage ausgebildet, wobei das Steckbuchsengehäuse (3) zumindest teilweise von einer Abschirmung umschlossen ist und wenigstens zwei Steckbuchsen (1, 2) beinhaltet. Die Ankopplungseinrichtung umfasst ferner einen integrierten Schaltkreis (6), wobei der integrierten Schaltkreis (6) wenigstens zwei Ethernet-Ports und wenigstens eine applikationsspezifische Schnittstelle bereitstellt. Jeder Ethernet-Port steht mit jeweils einer Steckbuchse (1, 2) in Verbindung. Die applikationsspezifische Schnittstelle ist mit den elektrischen Kontakten (7) verbunden. Der integrierten Schaltkreis (6) ist innerhalb des Steckbuchsengehäuse (3) angeordnet.
