[origin: WO2011100962A1] For a mixer having a mixer shaft (2) that can be rotated in a mixer container (1), mixing members being arranged on the mixer shaft, the mixer being equipped with a drive unit (9) for the mixer shaft (2) that is located outside the mixer container (1) and with supply channels (26) for gaseous and/or liquid media, the mixer shaft (2) is guided out of the mixer container (1). The drive unit (9) is installed on the part of the mixer shaft (2) protruding from the mixer container (1) and rigidly connected to the container wall penetrated by the mixer shaft (2). The bearings (22) of the mixer shaft (2) and the seal (19) of the interior of the mixer container (1) in the area in which the mixer shaft (2) is fed through the container wall are integrated into the drive unit (9). Thus, a compact, space-saving design is achieved, by means of which even high demands for sterility can be met.
