[origin: EP2540406A1] The method involves arranging the cover plates (10) between several rollers (8) of a roller table. The rolling material (4) is heated remotely from the lower side (14) of the cover plates. The deflection amount of the cover plates is determined, such that the heating process of rolling material from the lower side of cover plates is controlled based on the determined deflection amount. The cover plates are heated by using heating coils or induction heaters. An independent claim is included for a heating system for transporting rolling material.
