Abstract (en)
[origin: EP2540433A1] The process comprises machining an edge of a mold (1) so as to form a planar surface that has flat or chamfered shape, depositing a determined quantity of a resurfacing material (11) on the planar surface of the edge, and simultaneously welding the recharging material on the planar surface using a laser beam (21) so as to form a reinforcing zone (111). The resurfacing material: comprises a metal or metal alloy; is present in the form of powder; is projected by a nozzle (3) on the mold; and is projected on the planar surface and downstream of a focusing zone of the laser beam. The process comprises machining an edge of a mold (1) so as to form a planar surface that has flat or chamfered shape, depositing a determined quantity of a resurfacing material (11) on the planar surface of the edge, and simultaneously welding the recharging material on the planar surface using a laser beam (21) so as to form a reinforcing zone (111). The resurfacing material: comprises a metal or metal alloy; is present in the form of powder; is projected by a nozzle (3) on the mold; and is projected on the planar surface and downstream of a focusing zone of the laser beam. The depositing and welding steps are performed without preheating the mold. The surface of the mold to be recharged is disposed downstream of the focusing zone of the laser beam. The focusing zone is disposed at a distance of 10 mm from the planar surface. The method further comprises passing the laser beam on the planar surface of the mold to be recharged according to a controlled slew rate of 600-2000 mm/minutes, and machining the reinforcing zone. An independent claim is included for a glassware mold made of cast iron, bronze or steel.
