[origin: DE102010000608B3] The device has a drawing punch (2) comprising a cutting edge (4) for cutting a blank (1) during a drawing process. An inlet contour (5) is provided in a stamper (3) and is formed in such a manner that the cutting edge and the inlet contour sectionally stay in cutting engagement in a drawing punch position to begin a cutting process along a cutting line (7). The cutting edge of the drawing punch forms and compresses a final contour of a component and optionally runs in a plane perpendicular to drawing motion of the drawing punch. An independent claim is also included for a method for drawing components from a blank made of metal.
