Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2546531A2] The actuator (1) has an axially movable piston (3) with a piston rod (4) arranged in an actuator housing (2). The piston is movable by compressed gas-generating pyrotechnic propellant (8) filled within the housing. The piston is held by a fixing system (6) in an initial position until reaching predetermined pressure. An inner space of the housing on a side of the piston opposite to a pressure chamber is partly filled with liquid (7). The liquid is retained in the housing by a tight closure (5). The closure allows flow of the liquid from the housing when exceeding the predetermined pressure. The fixing system is mechanical, electrical or magnetic fixing system in form of a shearing disk.
