[origin: EP2557283A1] The present invention provides a technology which is capable of specifying a deviation in a PM trapped quantity between the central portion and the peripheral portion in the radial direction of a particulate filter. In order to achieve this object, the invention is to measure a PM quantity contained in an exhaust gas flowing out from the central portion in the radial direction of the particulate filter, and a PM quantity contained in the exhaust gas flowing out from the peripheral portion in the radial direction of the particulate filter, and, from these results, obtains the PM trapped quantity at the central portion and the PM trapped quantity at the peripheral portion.
