Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2479631A] A connector comprises a body 12 and a push-on connector ring 16 for securing to a female connector 42. A locking ring 18 held by the body is movable relative to the push-on connector ring to lock it in position. This allows a push-on connector to be locked firmly to a female connector, typically associated with an electrical device, so as to obtain the screening (electromagnetic leakage) specification of a push-on connector but the locking specification of a screw connector. The body comprises a shaft portion 14 along which the push-on connector ring slides. The locking ring is pushed in one longitudinal direction along the shaft to engage with the push-on connector ring and lock it to a female connector, and is pushed along the shaft in the other direction to disengage from the push-on connector ring and release the female connector. The locking ring and push-on connector ring are preferably provided with an interengaging ridge 36 and channel 28 capable of locking the locking ring and push-on connector ring in a fixed position with respect to each other. The inner surface of the push-on connector ring may have a threaded portion 24, and channel 28 may be coloured red.
