[origin: WO2011131374A2] The invention relates to a monitoring system for monitoring the temperature of at least one component, wherein the monitoring system comprises at least one monitoring circuit in which at least one temperature sensor is disposed, which is or can be thermally coupled to the component such that the temperature sensor can take on a current temperature or at least substantially the current temperature of the component, wherein the at least one temperature sensor is an electric resistor, in particular a PTC resistor or a PPTC resistor, the electric resistance of which, in a temperature range in which a predetermined threshold temperature of the component to be monitored lies, rises non-linearly with increasing temperature so that the current temperature of the component can be monitored on the basis of an electric measurement of a measurement value that is dependent on the current electric resistance of the resistor so as to check whether the threshold temperature is exceeded.
