[origin: WO2011131273A1] The invention relates to a high-voltage insulator, in particular to a post insulator, as is used to support busbars or cables for example in high-voltage direct-current transmission systems, or HVDCT systems for short, or high-voltage installations. The general inventive idea is to connect the individual hollow post insulators, which are produced from composite material, by means of a coupling piece such that the respective free internal volumes of the at least two separate post insulators now in fact form a single common gas area.
