[origin: EP2562723A1] The device (10) has a sensor unit (22) for detecting a feature of a coupon (12), and a cancellation unit (28) for canceling the coupon. A transport unit transports the coupon from the sensor unit to the cancellation unit. A control unit (18) actuates the transport unit for transporting the coupon from the sensor unit to the cancellation unit based on the validity of the coupon determined from the detected feature of the coupon. An interface (26) transmits data with information including one of monetary value, discount value, expiration date, authenticity, or allowance amount of the coupon. An independent claim is also included for a point-of-sale system.
